Though many channels wish to do this, it is often a blurry and confusing process filled with questions and uncertainties of how to become one of these top tier YouTubers. Collaborations between creators are one of the great things a channel can do, it provides so many positive outcomes that will help you as a channel grow to the next level. You get to expand your audience, grow your network of YouTube contacts, try a different style, learn tips, and just have a good time making a different type of video for your viewers.

You just want to make sure that the channel you are collaborating with is one you respect as a YouTuber, person, and content creator. You do not want to get your name mixed up with one that will give you a bad reputation among the community and more importantly your fans. Being irresponsible in choosing who to collab with will take away from the positive growth that should be coming from doing it.

Work on growing your contact list of fellow YouTubers who you would be willing to collab with and hit them up, it is a win win for both of you if done right.

Do What YOU Want

Every year, there are dozens of new trends that make their way around YouTube and become mainstream among some of the most highly subscribed and watched channels. It is really important that you do not fall victim of popular trends and do what you want to as a creator. We need to make this clear: following trends is NOT how to take your YouTube channel to the next level.

One of the best tips that can be given to someone, let alone a YouTuber, is to do you want to do. You have to do what makes you happy on your channel. Do not try to satisfy mainstream fans by doing something you do not want or like to do, because it will make you unhappy as a creator, which will clearly show through in your videos. Hurting your growth as a channel, as well as a creator in the long run.

If you do what you want and what makes you enjoy your channel, your viewers will be able to feel this happiness and satisfaction through your videos. It will gain you a real, loyal, and long lasting fanbase that truly enjoys your videos as much as you do.

So just make sure you are doing what you want on your channel and are not conforming with the expectations and short term trends that exist in the YouTube community. They might get you short term success, but will not take your channel to the next level as a whole on the long run.

Some of the most popular services big channels end up needing help for, is editing, design, and camera/lighting. All of these examples are time consuming jobs that take a while to master and are vital cogs in a next level YouTube channel. So getting help for them makes a lot of sense. Now, instead of slaving away for hours editing your mass amount of video clips, you can send it off to a video editor who is going to do a great job, and do it much faster than you would be able to do yourself.

Getting help to develop your channel is a massive stepping stone that is very often overlooked when figuring out how to take your YouTube channel to the next level.

Be Unique

There are almost 50 million different YouTube channels out their uploading content with the same hopes and intentions that you have. With numbers like that, how are you supposed to gain traction on the platform? Well the answer is that you must make your channel unique is some way, shape, or form.

Unfortunately these days with YouTube, it is easy to see a really popular channel that you like, and form your content around their style, format, or personality. However this is a trap, and makes you just one of the millions in the crowd.

Some of the most consistently popular and well known channels that have been at the top of YouTube for many many years, are channels that separated themselves from all the others on the site. Everybody loves an original YouTuber with fresh and creative new content.

For example, Casey Neistat is one of the most popular and influential YouTubers, he has been on the platform for a long time and has developed his own signature and innovative style which has brought him some great success. He was unique and not afraid of trying new things. However there are countless other YouTubers who dream of his success and therefore have fallen into the trap of imitation. They copy his style almost exactly in hopes of gaining the success that he has and climb to the next level as a channel. Unfortunately this never works and actually gives you a reputation as a follower not an innovator.

Make sure you are being unique and not copying other peoples style like it is the “secret sauce.” If you really want to know how to take your YouTube channel to the next level, be unique, stand out, innovate, and stand alone on YouTube.

New viewers have a very short attention span, if they click on your video and are not satisfied in the first 1 – 2 minutes, then they very likely will click out of it. So if you want to go to the next level as a YouTuber, make sure to look the part because it will attract the likes of fans, passer byers, and advertisers.

Invest In Your Channel

You know the old beaten up, overused saying “you gotta spend money to make money” well, it’s true, and still applies to YouTube channels. So if you really want to grow, and expand to the next level as a channel, then you have to spend some money.

Whether it is a new camera, setup, computer program, props, designer, editor, or anything else that will help your channel grow, it is a good investment. A good idea to put away some of your video revenue and save it up for upgrades toward your channel. Just think, while it may be exciting to splurge on some new jewelry after a big sponsorship deal, buying some new editing software to replace your old lackluster one, is probably the better idea in the long run.

a bunch of gear

Take this example, let’s say you landed a brand deal with a company a were lucky enough to score $500 off of it. And while your videos are good, your camera is old and the quality is not up to par with what it should be. Taking that $500 from the brand deal to buy a new camera that has great quality will not only make your videos better and attract more fans, but it will most likely open more doors for more brand deals in the future. Remember, companies want to associate themselves with good quality not bad, so shaky footage caught on your phone is usually not going to cut it.

Perhaps that example seems very expensive to you at the moment, remember that not all channel investments need to be huge, a simple $20 tripod can improve your videos tremendously. Just slowly upgrade over time, and as you grow and expand you will have more working capital to invest into equipment, programs, and maybe even employees. Don’t jump the gun, start with small investment and grow over time.
